Harry Potter? Never read it. Twilight? My education on the topic barely spans past the captions on Hot Topic t-shirts. But for whatever reason, I make exception for The Hunger Games. I don't really know how the series slipped through my pretentious filtering system, but it did. And I'm totally addicted. Maybe there's just something about post-apocalyptic scenarios in which children are forced to fight to the death that tugs at my heartstrings. Or maybe I'm a sucker for simultaneous love stories/plights for survival. Whatever it is, The Hunger Games may very well be a perfect adventure novel. I don't even care that it got one of those cheesy table displays at Barnes and Noble, or that the mainstream popularity of "Team Peeta" and "Team Gale" shirts is imminent. I can't put the books down.
If you haven't read The Hunger Games yet, do yourself a favor and borrow the first book from a friend. Because, let's be real, you're probably the only one not toting around a copy.
